Brief summary of the month:
August 2004 was the wettest of any month since records began in 1960 and the first time 200mm or more has been recorded. There was several falls over 25mm and some exceptional storms. Temperatures were again above average but it was cooler than 2003, the coolest in fact since 2002. Sunshine hours were below average with only 96%, the dullest since 2002. Thunder days were also the highest since 1999.
