Brief summary of the month:
August 2003 was the warmest since the very warm 1997 with temperatures almost two degrees above average. It was a very dry month with rainfall well below average at just 37%, it was in fact the driest since 1995. Sunshine totals were just above average with 105%, making it the sunniest since 1998. There was some hot days during the first half of the month with the 9th producing the warmest day since 3rd August 1990.
