Brief summary of the month:
August 2002 was the warmest since the very warm 1997 with temperatures a degree above average. Rainfall although close to average with 99% was in fact the driest since 2000. Sunshine was again in short supply with only 85% of the average sunshine duration. Despite the overall warmth, there were no really hot days.
